Government Announces Cash Support to Nearly 1,500 Workers

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training has announced the provision of cash support to workers in the garment and tourism sector affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Ministry says that the cash assistance will be sent through Wing Bank (Cambodia) starting from Monday.

It says that these workers come from 21 factories in the kingdom whose jobs were interrupted due to Covid-19 restrictions. The government has allocated $15 assistance for those who were laid-off from their work from seven to 10 days. A $30 cash support for those suspended for 11 to 20 days and $40 for those without work from 21 days up to one month.

The Ministry has warned the affected workers that the budget will be returned back to the government if they will not claim within 10 days after receiving the message from Wing Bank (Cambodia). In case the workers have not received any messages, they are advised to contact MLVT or update their contact details to their factory administration.
